Hirshman parodied the heyday of US commercial television in the person of the “King of TV,” the embodiment of an advertiser’s dream trapped in a boob tube of consumerism.

The King’s left sleeve includes a Hershey’s chocolate candy bar wrapper, probably a reference to the name Hirshman’s art students gave him – Mr. Hershey.
