Although “Politician” includes many pokes at the pomposity of the breed – microphone snakes looking up from the podium; a sardine tin mouth with sardine teeth; a lapel button of a rat staring down at a piece of cheese protruding from the handkerchief pocket – it is the coat itself that an art critic might notice. The placement of the metal mesh to show the shadows and shades of the cloth is selected with an eye that knows how to compose so that viewers don’t know why they are so taken by the image.
