The influence of pop culture spread by the relatively new medium of TV is evident in Hirshman’s art (see “King of TV“). And tap dancing was a staple of variety shows at the time on television. Dressed well in a pair of socks for a sweater, handmade ants for shirt buttons,  this tap dancer, with his opened mouth slipper, is apparently a singer as well – although probably not a very good one as he literally has a frog in his throat.
