A sleepless sufferer with all manner of sundries on the shelf in the unsuccessful search for slumber. Hirshman, who made it a point of pride to never take such off-the-shelf aids, parodied those sleepless friends that did.

This piece is another example of art within art, characteristic of some of Hirshman’s work, usually in the form of wall paintings. In this case, it is actually another assemblage, portraying fish jumping over a plastic baby with an American flag.
