“The Shoppers” – 1977

“The Shoppers” is similar to “Triumph of Death,” not in theme, but the uncommon choice (for Hirshman) to  use magazine and newspaper cut-outs of mostly well-known people. Although this image of the artwork could be of a higher resolution, nonetheless many of those looking out from the windows of the buildings in the background are recognizable – Groucho Marx, Charlie Brown, Shirley Temple and many more – all looking at a woman with a comb hat and a child carrying her pizza-pie balloon.
